Best wishes for a fun, safe
& healthy summer!!!
From Wagging Tails Pet
Sitters
|
|
School's
out & summer's here!
It's another busy summer
here at Wagging Tails.
Despite the nation's
major increase in
gasoline prices and
airfare, our clients are
still traveling on their
well deserved summer
vacations. And the
alternative to a summer
vacation, the "Staycation",
that many budget
conscious Americans have
decided to take, still
means that your pets
need to be cared for
while you're gone on day
trips to the beach, or
rainy days at the
casino.
So relax and enjoy your
day away! Even if you're
gone for a few hours,
we are happy
to visit your pets to
feed, play, exercise and
love them! So don't
forget to call
us--whether you're
planning a daytrip on
your "staycation" or a
two week vacation away,
we'll be there for your
pets!

The Dog
Days of Summer are Here!
Here's a
few reminders from your
Pet Sitters at Wagging
Tails to keep your pets
(and you) happy and
healthy this summer:
-Fireworks,
thunder and
lightening occur
often this time of
year. Most pets are
VERY sensitive to
the loud noises
these occurences
make. So DON'T bring
your pet to see a
fireworks display.
If there is a
forecasted storm,
keep them inside,
with a radio on, to
help drown out the
noise. Make sure
they are secure so
that if they do get
stressed from
the booms and bangs,
they will not do any
harm to themselves
or your home.
-Your pets need
sunscreen
too! When taking
your dog on a
walk or on a
trip to the
beach, be sure
to apply
sunscreen to
your pet's nose,
ears or exposed
skin. If your
pet has a thin
coat, or has had
a recent
haircut, where
you can see the
skin thru it,
they CAN get
sunburn. So
just like
humans, your pet
should avoid
extended
exposure to the
sun.
-Ever try to
walk on hot sand
at the beach? Or
black pavement
with bare feet
in the summer?
It's really HOT,
it burns and it
hurts!! That's
how it feels on
your pet's paws
or their bare
"feet". So for
their comfort
& to protect
their paws,
please avoid
walking your pet
on hot surfaces,
or walking at
the hottest time
of day!
-Do
NOT leave your pet
in a parked car. In
fact, this time of
year it's always
best to leave our
pets home in the
cool and comfort of
air conditioning.
Even a short ride in
a hot car can cause
your pet to
overheat. So it's
best to save the
doggy day trips for
the cooler months.
Even trips to the
dog park should be
limited and
restricted to early
morning and later
evenings when the
temperature is
cooler.
-DON'T shut
off the air
conditioning in
your home. Many
energy conscious
clients turn off
their a.c.'s
when they leave
for vacation.
But your pet, in
their fur coat
is still home.
And your home
heats up
quickly! Leave
the temperature
on a comfortable
setting for your
pet, but a
reasonable
setting for your
budget!
-Don't leave
windows
opened more
than a few
inches
while your
pet is left
unattended.
An open
window
is too
enticing for
a curious
cat looking
out of it.
They can
easily push
on the
screen, fall
out, become
injured or
lost!
-Fleas and
ticks can make both
you and your pets
very uncomfortable.
Don't walk your pet
in areas with long
grass. And after
each walk, be sure
to check yourself
and your pet for
fleas or ticks.
There are many
products out today
that have kept the
insect infestation
minimal!
-If your pet
loves to swim, make
sure their laps in
your pool or at the
beach are always
supervised. A dog
life preserver is
best to ensure that
your pet will be
safe while swimming
or boating.
-Don't
forget to bring
plenty of water for
BOTH yourself and
your pet on walks,
hikes and outings
this summer!
-We
understand that your
pets are part of the
family. So, although
it may seem like a
great idea to
include your pet on
your family's summer
vacation, the stress
of the change in
environment can be
detrimental to your
pet's health, and
could lead to stress
for you on your well
deserved and much
needed vacation! All
pets are creatures
of habit and
routine. Although
you may be with them
on vacation in a
strange place, the
confusion,
frustration,
separation anxiety
and stress that they
feel when taken from
their familiar
environment and
daily routine can
cause your pet to
become ill.
Lethargy, diarrhea,
loss of appetite and
dehydration are some
of the many negative
effects that travel
can have on your
pet. So for your
pet's safety and for
your piece of mind,
leave your pets
happy at home with
your Wagging Tails
Pet Sitter!

Don't forget about
Christmas in July!!
Yes, it's 90 degrees
outside, there's no
chance for snow and it's
hard to think about the
Holiday Season.
But, here's a good habit
to get in to and a great
way to get you thru the
dog days of summer when
you return from your
summer vacation-- look
ahead, plan and look
forward to your NEXT
trip! So, if you're
planning to visit family
or go away for the
Holidays, it's NEVER too
early to call us to
reserve your pet care!
AND REMEMBER
-IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY TO
START COLLECTING PET
SUPPLIES & DONATIONS FOR
OUR ANNUAL
"PRESENTS
FOR PETS"
HOLIDAY
FUNDRAISER!
It's so easy to
donate presents for
shelter pets---if you
have toys, food, leashes
and other pet supplies
that your pets don't use
anymore, or if you're
doing some summer
cleaning and find
blankets, towels,
newspapers, etc, that
you want to give
away, hold on to them
for our fundraiser! Last
year we had several
truck loads of donations
for the Meriden Humane
Society. We hope that
this Holiday Season we
can double last year's
amount! Just think of
the large amounts of pet
supplies you can
accumulate to donate to
the December
fundraiser if you start
NOW!

CONGRATULATIONS
TO ASHLEY--
SHE'S PET SITTER OF THE
MONTH!!
Because Wagging Tails
managers have
already proven
themselves as excellent
pet sitters, (or they
wouldn't be chosen to
hold a position as a
manager!), it is
not usual for a manager
to be chosen as Pet
Sitter of the
Month. BUT, this
month, we're making an
exception because this
pet sitter & manager is
really very deserving
of recognition for
all she does. The
continuous compliments
we receive from our
clients for Ashley's
excellent pet care, and
from fellow pet sitters
for her patience and
professionalism in
managing and assisting
them, as well as, to the
list of many other
strengths she brings to
Wagging Tails,
proves she is very, very
deserving of this award!
She's earned it! Ashley
recently celebrated her
4 year anniversary with
our company. She's
worked her way up from
beginning as a part time
pet sitter to a full
time manager, and has
proven herself to be a
great asset to us.
She's a great team
leader! She's had plenty
of experience in the
care of her own pet
menagerie--a Pekingnese-Jezebel,
her cats- Moses, Kesa
and Desta, turtles-
Happy & Buddy, and her
bird- Beebop. She wears
many hats here and has
done an excellent job
throughout the years in
her responsibilities pet
sitting and managing up
to 40 pet sitters a day!
We love having her as
part of our Wagging
Tails family--and my
own pets LOVE having
their aunt Ashley care
for them when I'm away!
And that's a tough
job--pet sitting for the
boss! For the busy
summer months Ashley has
taken on yet another
responsibility and will
be assisting Renay,
Angela and myself, in
the office. So the next
time you speak with her,
be sure to congratulate
her! CONGRATULATIONS
ASHLEY!!!! (Ashley is
pictured holding her Pet
Sitter of the Month
certificate)

For Father's Day,
From Your Dog.
The Top Ten Ways You And I Are
Alike:
10. We both like
to stick out heads out the car
window and bark
at other drivers.
9. There's
nothing more comforting to us
than napping in front of the the
TV.
8. Others get
impatient waiting for us to
finish going potty.
7. We've both
been in the doghouse at one time
or another.
6. We make warm,
furry bed partners.
5. Sometimes we
beg for extra scraps of food.
4. You fix
things-I'm a fixed thing.
3. We both like
to sit around and scratch
ourselves.
2. We whine if
we're not let out of the house
to play once in a while.
And the #1 way
you and I are alike...
Given a choice,
we'd rather just lie around and
do nothing but eat and sleep all
day. (I'm up for that on
Father's Day, if you are!)
Happy Father's Day
from your four legged friend AND
from your friends at
Wagging Tails Pet
Sitting Service!

On behalf of your four legged,

A
Mother's Day Poem
From Your Dog:
You feed me when I'm hungry,
You keep water in my dish,
You let me sleep on anything
Or in any place I wish.
You sometimes let me lick your hands,
or even lick your face,
Despite the fact I've licked myself
In every private place.
You taught me how to come when called,
You taught me how to sit,
You always let me go outside,
So I can take a s- stroll.
You'll always have my loyalty,
up to the bitter end,
'cause after all, it's plain to see...
You are a dog's best friend!
Happy Mother's Day !
(Woof, arf, licks, slurps and tail wags!
from your dog :)
|
And, of course, a
Mother's Day poem from your kitty
too!
On this very
special day.
We want to thank our Mom's.
For loving us when we are sweet
or bad,
For loving us when we are clean
or dirty,
For taking care of us when we
are well or sick,
For being there on the spot when
we mew a lot,
For this Mother's Day we MEOW to
say.....
We love you lots.

Congratulations to Catherine
our fabulous
Pet Sitter of the Month!
Since 2004, we've had the
pleasure of having this awesome pet
sitter and inspirational woman on our
Wagging Tails team! Catherine has worked
hard in Southington, to keep the pups
she walks on regular midday visits happy
and socialized. Expending their never
ending energy is not always easy, but
Catherine finds a way to do it! When
we're called to care for new members of
the family - puppies or recently adopted
pets- Catherine loves to meet them in
their first weeks in their new
homes. Stopping by midday to relieve
them, aiding in potty training
and breaking up their day is one of her
favorite parts of the job. Then four
years later, as she continues to visit
them on a weekly basis, she's seen them
grow up and change! They're like her own
extended pet family. In fact, she
adopted on of our client's pets that
they could no longer care for. AND she
adopted a kitten from our foster
program! AND she recently adopted a Lab
from the local Dog Pound! She cares for
her pets, your pets, her kids AND works
nights at another job! And she does it
all so well! Our clients appreciate her
attention to detail and excellent care
and we appreciate her reliability,
dependability, never ending efforts,
professionalism, and hard work!
Catherine's mature outlook on the pet
sitting profession, as well as her
ability to follow instructions to a "t",
has impressed us and her fellow team
mates. She's proud to be a Pet Sitter
and she shows it! If we could clone
Catherine to make multiples of the
Purrfect Pet Sitter, we would! If she's
your regular midday pet sitter, you KNOW
why she's been chosen as Pet Sitter of
the Month! Be sure to congratulate
Catherine! She's one great lady and we
love and appreciate her!

Wednesday, April
23rd is National
Administrative
Professional's Day. In honor
of this day I'd like to
introduce you to Wagging
Tails Pet Sitting Service's
hard working Administrative
Professionals-
Renay and
Angela.
Each time you call our
office and speak with
these incredible women
you'll know a bit more
about them, their hard
work, extensive
efforts and their
contributions to Wagging
Tails. I truly
appreciate them. And I
know that many of our
wonderful clients and
pet sitters do as
well. Knowing that your
pet is going to be in
great hands while you're
away starts with your
phone call to us and
reservation taken by one
of these women. But
their jobs entail so
much more than just
answering phones and
taking reservations!
They manage and
schedule nearly 40 pet
sitters, servicing 20
towns, caring for
sometimes unpredictable
pets, in all types of
weather--all of which
can create very busy and
event filled days!
I am so proud to have
them on the Wagging
Tails team. They have
been the backbone of
Wagging Tails for so
long, that I consider
them my extended
family. In fact,
Angela's children
(future pet sitters), 8
and 3 years old, call me
"Auntie"! Much of the
growth and success that
Wagging Tails has
achieved throughout the
past 10 years is due
largely in part to the
hard work, loyalty,
dedication,
organization, ideas and
many, many hours that
these two women have put
in.
Renay came to us in 2002
with nearly 20 years of
valuable office
management experience.
Every day here brings
new triumphs and
challenges and Renay
greets them each with a
positive take charge
attitude. Whether it's
accommodating a client
with a last minute
visit, or assisting a
pet sitter who is locked
out of a home, Renay has
the best interest at
heart of each and every
client she services and
pet sitter she assists.
Angela began her
career here as a pet
sitter in 1998. She saw
the need for assistance
here in our office and
offered her valuable
experience and
incredibly patient,
calm demeanor to become
the first Administrative
assistant we ever had.
TEN years
later, Angela continues
to contribute daily to
our success!
I have to admit that it
was extremely difficult
and a big decision for
me to entrust the
welfare and operations
of my company to someone
other than myself. But
ten years ago, the
growing pains of the
business required me to
relinquish some of the
responsibilities. I
started this business
because I wanted to work
with animals and provide
a needed service to the
community, not because I
wanted to run an office!
So having two incredibly
reliable, experienced,
customer service
oriented extensions of
myself, on our team for
several years has
absolutely attributed to
our growth and success.
I am so proud of them,
that I thought you
should be introduced to
the two incredibly
awesome tail waggers!
They adore all animals
and have your pet's best
interest at heart. Thank
you Renay & Angela!
Happy Administrative
Professional's Day!
If you have, or work
with, an
Administrative
Professional, be
sure to take the
time, not only on
April 23rd, but
often, to show your
appreciation for all
their efforts! And
if you are an
Administrative
Professional-Celebrate!!
